About Bayero University Kano (BUK)

Bayero University Kano (BUK) was known as Ahmadu Bello College and was established in January 1960. It was later renamed Abdullahi Bayero College, after Abdullahi Bayero, Emir of Kano, and soon thereafter it became a faculty of the new university.

It has different research centers, namely the Center for Advanced Medical Research, the Center for Infectious Diseases, the Center for Gender Studies, the Center for Islamic Studies, the Center for Dryland Agriculture, the Center for Biotechnology Research, the Center for Renewable Energy, and the Center for the Study of Nigerian Languages, among others.

Bayero University Kano Requirements For Admission 2025/2026 Academic Session

Here are the Bayero University Kano admission requirements for the 2025-2026 academic session:

• Candidates must have written the JAMB UTME, and candidates for the 2025/2026 academic year must have taken the 2025 UTME.

• Candidates must have achieved a minimum cut-off mark of 160 or higher.

• Candidates must select BUK as their first preference.

• Candidates must have the correct subject mix, which combines mathematics and the English language in no more than two settings.

• Candidates wishing to apply for direct entry must have A-level results, such as NCE, ND, JUMPED, or IJMB.

• Candidates seeking admission to the University must meet the federal government’s minimum age requirement.

• Candidates must sit and pass the Minimum Mark in the Post-UTME conducted by the Institution.

BUK Postgraduate Admission Requirements

1. Ph.D./M.Phil Programs

To be admitted into BUK for Ph.D./M.Phil programs, you must hold an M.A., M.Ed., M.Sc., M.Eng., or LLM degree in the relevant field with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 on a scale of 0.00 to 5.00 from Bayero University, Kano, or any other recognized university.

2. Ph.D./M.Phil in Radiology:

To be admitted into BUK, you must

• Hold a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or similar degree, as well as a Master of Science (M.Sc) in a relevant area of Radiology from a recognized university.

• Hold a complete fellowship from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN), the West African College of Physicians (WACP), the West African College of Surgeons (WACS), or another recognized international medical fellowship.

• Have completed a part 1 fellowship with either the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, the West African College of Physicians, or the West African College of Surgeons.

• Candidates may be required to participate in a screening exercise to determine their suitability for the Ph.D. program.

3. Admission to Master of Business and Commercial Law (MBCL):

You must:

• A Good Second Degree in Law or Social Sciences from Bayero University in Kano or another approved university.

• A degree in Law or Social Sciences, as well as a university postgraduate diploma with at least a Merit classification from Bayero University in Kano or another recognized university.
